Long Lake Zinc Mine

Rocks from The Long Lake Zinc Mine, near Parham, Ontario often resemble stellar images with bands, streaks and bright specks running through a dull red to red matrix.

These specimens are fist to hand sized. And contain the following fluorescent minerals:

  • calcite – dull purple red to red
  • hydrozincite – blue to bright blue white
  • diopside – bright blue specks
  • chondrodite – bright yellow specks
  • humite – yellow
